Chris E
#ChordifyChallenge Play along with your favourite YouTube song and practice chords, fills, transition chords, ornaments & creativity. I love to play with the PWJ Backing Tracks and also I love to play with my favourite songs. Some time ago I discovered the Chordify-app (it’s free; not all functionality is available). The steps of the challenge (my suggestion; feel free to skip steps 😀 choose one of your favourite songs download the Chordify app on your phone or tablet pick one of the YouTube versions of your favourite song in the Chordify app; a version without piano is great; but you can pick any version you like practice your song with the Chordify app presenting the chords when necessary practice the scale of the song with the fundamental PWJ-course try to be creative with the chords, fills, etc. (also a lot of PWJ-courses on this topic) listen carefully to the performing artist, some musicians speed things up; but some slow down (can be tricky) enjoy playing and accompanying your favourite artist record both your piano playing and the play of the YouTube song post it in this forum with hashtag #ChordifyChallenge Maximum size of the video is 48,8Mb. Maybe you need to shorten the recording or to export it to 480p (smaller resolution) Hopefully it can be posted in this forum. Because on Facebook (as a public medium) the Royalty Police doesn’t like using copyrighted songs. I think it’s a great way to practice and share in this community. Love to learn from you all... I Re-recorded the song “Fields of Gold” performed by Eva Cassidy (originally a song by Sting). Total recording is nearly 5 minutes; I shortened it to 2 minutes and downsized it from 1080p to 480p Hope you like it! 191026 Fields of Gold - short - 480p.mov
Ido B
What a cool idea, @Chris E! Such a beautiful version and beautiful playing of Fields of Gold. I love what you did with it. I’ve never used chordify. I’m gonna check it out. Thanks!

The chords you see on your phone, tablet or computer are only the basic chords (no -6 -13 chords or chords with a different bass-note). Hope you can find a YouTube song you want to play along with. Chris E
I have another example of a song I played along in the Chordify app. Practicing Elton John’s - Saturday Night’s Alright performed by Taron Egerton (from the “Rocketman” movie) Love the (Saturday - Saturday) guitars in this original 1973 song. I think I first heard it on the radio in the 80’s. For this session I used the newly recorded movie version (which I’m using as a backing track with the app Chordify). Basically the chords of the verses are G - F - C. That’s a V-IV-I progression in the scale of C. Since these are the same chords as the C-blues scale I tried to play this scale over the song: but it doesn’t work. There’s a transition in the song via the Dm-chord to a C-Bb-F-C progression. 191018 Saturday Night's Alright - short.mov
