Inspirations? Just too many...

Recommended Posts

Ok let me join with some of my favorite piano/keyboard players:

Bill Evans (guess he is my number 1)
Esbjörn Svensson (check out e.s.t - an amazing band)
Michel Petrucciani
Bobby Timmons
Kenny Barron
Hank Jones
Bugge Wesseltoft
Oscar Peterson (especially the trio stuff with Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen)
Dr. John
Chester Thompson
Stevie Wonder
Maurizio Pollini (my favorite when it comes to classical playing)
Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (if only the sound quality of the recordings would be better)
Rudof Buchbinder (love his Beethoven renditions)

is there a limit to the length of a post 😉 - guess I stop anyway, the list could go on and on, there is/was just so much amazing talent out there.

Many pianists who are on your list are also on mine 🙂 . I was a huge E.S.T fan - was really saddened by Esbjörn Svensson's death (but Rymden is really cool, especially live 🙂 )

Happy to see another e.s.t. fan here!

I was really blown when Esbjorn died… couldn’t believe it!

Was following Dan and Magnus on their solo-projects - especially liked Tonbruket (quite different from e.s.t.) - and only just came across Rymden a few months ago - looking forward to see them live someday (still can‘t believe that I missed that the three of them work together now)

Love this topic. Although I'm 24 and always feel as if I simply was born in the wrong era :). Regardless of how much I learn, I still feel that I'm barely scratching the surface.

I'm only just now truly learning about the great jazz icons like Oscar Peterson, Bud Powell, Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk...

These are names I've heard before, but until I sat down to immerse myself in the culture that I realize what true pioneers these musicians were. Such incredible pianist, incredible composers.

I'll be checking some names on that list for sure.
