Dina Melucci! :classic_biggrin: @Dina M

Please join with me in congratulating her on her Member Spotlight!

Where are you from?

•    West Orange, NJ, USA. About 15 miles due west of Midtown Manhattan, NYC. I have a breathtaking view of the city skyline from here!

When did you start playing piano?

•    Geez, tough question. I don't know if I ever had an official start. I had a toy piano as a munchkin, no bench, I had to play on my knees! Then one day I came home from school, first grade I assume, and the piano was gone. I guess Mom got tired of it. So I was pianoless until about age 13, when my father bought an actual piano. I played that (although I was clueless to what I was doing.. just playing by ear) until age 18 when I left home. I didn't have money to move the piano, so I once again became pianoless. About 10 years after that my mother sold the house to move to Florida, and with it, my piano. It wasn't yet picked up when I got the news, so I took my rent money,  used that to have  it moved to my apt., beating the buyer to the punch, lol. I've had the piano since then, but I still can't say when I officially started playing! I guess last year when I joined pwj!

What got you interested in learning music?

•    When I realized I didn't know what I was doing!

What is your favorite style of piano music?

•    Jazz! genres include traditional jazz, bebop, hard bop, swing, boogie, Smooth Jazz, and Blues.

Do you have any favorite pieces to play?

•    No. I get bored playing the same song before I ever get it right!

What has most helped you most in improving as a pianist?

•    Why, pwj of course!

Do you have any tips for other PWJ members?

•    Do your best, leave the rest. Don't get burnt out!

What is your favorite part of the PWJ Membership?

•    The live shows, live classes, live Q & A, anything live, the collaboration.

What are your future music goals?

•    To up my jazz game. Finally start improvising, and make better arrangements with more chord subs.

Do you have any words you try to live by or a favorite quote?

•    Yes.  Don' wait. Do it while you're young and still have the impetuous.
